Sovah Health announced that nephrologist Amar Parikh, MD, has joined its medical staff and will be practicing primarily at its Martinsville campus.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Parikh to our team of talented nephrologists here in Martinsville,” said Tory Shepherd, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Sovah Health – Martinsville. “We are committed to providing high quality, compassionate care for patients with kidney disease, and Dr. Parikh will be instrumental in helping us do that.”
Parikh received his Doctor of Medicine from Mercer University School of Medicine (Macon, GA) and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Baptist Health System (Birmingham, AL). After residency, he pursued further training in Nephrology and completed his fellowship at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
As a nephrologist, Parikh specializes in acute and chronic kidney disease, diabetes and hypertension, patients on dialysis, interventional nephrology, anemia, electrolyte imbalances, and post kidney transplant management. His professional affiliations include the American Society of Nephrology, Renal Physicians Association, Medical Society of Virginia and National Kidney Foundation.
