obit tom baileyThomas B. Bailey, age 68, of Meadows of Dan, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, in Tennessee.
He was born on May 11, 1948, in Chatham, N.J., and was a son of the late Eugene Herman Bailey and Elizabeth “Betty” Heath Bailey. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Bailey.
Tom served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War with the 101st Airborne 2nd/502nd Headquarters Company Recon Unit. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for valor. He was a past member of the Patrick County Veterans’ Memorial Honor Guard and a past Commander of VFW Post #8467. He loved Harleys, golf, and was an avid traveler with friends all over the world.
Surviving are one sister, Patricia Ann Musil of Meadows of Dan; two brothers, James F. Bailey of Meadows of Dan and Timothy M. Bailey of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; and two nieces, Allison Brislin and Melissa Sinese.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans’ Memorial Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VFW Post #8467, P.O. Box 755, Meadows of Dan, VA 24120 or to the Meadows of Dan Volunteer Fire Dept. and Rescue, P.O. Box 830, Meadows of Dan, VA 24120.
