The Varsity Baseball Team had to fire up their bats in the top of the seventh to get the win over Martinsville at Hooker Field on Thursday.

The Cougars were down 6-3 going into the top of the seventh, where they scored eight to take an 11-6 lead. PC closed out in the bottom of the inning to take the win.

All six runs by Martinsville were unearned, starting with four runs in the bottom of the first.

Tanner Epperson got the start on the mound and was relieved by Lane Taylor before giving way to Josh Cockram who righted the ship, keeping the Bulldogs in check until the Cougars could rally in the seventh for the win.

Josh Cockram beats the throwdown to second.

Cockram earned the win in relief going the final four 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on two hits, striking out five, and walking three.

Cockram also lead the Cougars at the plate going 4-5 with a triple. Bryson Fulcher added two hits while McCray Sawyers, Kelon Penn, Landon Augustine, and Jacob Mullis each added one hit each.
