Winners of 5K event announced

Several participants walked away as winners in the Apple Dumpling Festival 5K, recently held in conjunction with the festival.

Overall winners for the race were Eli Roberson in first place in a time of 17:42, second was RJ Scott in a time of 19:26 and third was Mark Joyce in 21:53.

In the women’s division, first place was Heather Jackson in a time of 21:36, second was Julia Bledsoe in 24:16 and third was Isle Berube in 25:49.

Executive Director Rebecca Adcock said, “We would also like to extend our gratitude and thank you to runner Joshua Doyle, who is running a 5K in every state and just happened to select our event for his Virginia race. Best of luck on your endeavor.”

Th 5K event would not have been possible without our sponsors and supporters, including the chamber, the Dan River Basin Association, Adcock Advanced Orthopedics, Patrick County Tourism, Lynn Regan, Jones & Deshon, Clark Gas and Oil, Patrick County Eye Associates, Blue Ridge Accounting & Tax, Blue Ridge Therapy Connection and Landmark, Patrick County Med Spa, Clark Brothers Construction and Ayers Orchard.

“We look forward to seeing everyone next year on October 15, 2022 for the race and festival,” Adcock said.
