The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued another winter storm watch, with heavy mixed precipitation possible in the region late Wednesday night into Thursday.

Starting Wednesday night, a slight chance of rain before 1 a.m., with rain, possibly mixed with freezing rain, between 1 and 4 a.m., and sleet, possibly mixed with freezing rain, after 4 a.m.

The sleet could be heavy at times, with a low temperature of around 30-degrees. The chance of precipitation is 100 percent.

On Thursday, expect freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet, before 11 a.m., then rain, possibly mixed with freezing rain, between 11 a.m. and noon, with rain after noon. Sleet could be heavy at times, with a high temperature near 35-degrees. The chance of precipitation is 100 percent.

Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches and ice accumulations up to a quarter of an inch possible, according to the NWS.

The storm is expected to cause power outages and tree damage. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
