Women’s Fly Fishing Class to be offered

A Women’s Fly Fishing Class will be held on Saturday, July 13 at the Reynolds Homestead from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fee for the class is $30, which includes the use of all needed equipment, a boxed lunch, and a membership to Trout Unlimited. (Photo courtesy of Blue Ridge Outdoors)

Interested women aged 16 and up are invited to join instructors from the Dan River Basin Association and Trout Unlimited for a comprehensive starter course for women only.

The class will be held on Saturday, July 13 at the Reynolds Homestead from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fee for the class is $30, which includes the use of all needed equipment. a boxed lunch, and a membership to Trout Unlimited.

Participants will spend the morning learning fly casting techniques, essential knot tying, choosing gear and tackle, proper fly selection, and water safety.

A break will be held for lunch then everyone will hit the two ponds at the Reynolds Homestead to practice casting and catch-and-release  techniques. This will be a fantastic opportunity to learn from the best fishermen around, and practicing on the ponds means you do not need a fishing license.

Class is limited to 15 participants; pre-registration and payment are required. Call the Homestead at (276) 694-7181 to register.
