Mrs. Betty Jean Howell Boyd, age 62 of Meadows of Dan, Virginia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Patrick County on January 13, 1960.  She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Chester Howell, Sr. and one sister, Brenda Lee Howell. Betty loved the Lord and was a faithful longtime member of Skyline Pentecostal Holiness Church. She enjoyed many years at Meadows of Dan Elementary School where she served as a teacher’s aide; she loved every minute she was with her “Cardinal Babies.” She was dedicated to her family, she loved and cared for them with all her heart. Betty will be remembered for her faith, her dedication to her family, and for her beautiful heart full of kindness.

Left to cherish the memory of Betty Boyd is her devoted husband of 42 years, Lonnie Z. Boyd of the home; her mother, Virginia Marshall Howell of Meadows of Dan; three siblings, Jimmy Howell, Sammy Howell, and Gina Justice, all of Meadows of Dan; special nieces and nephews, Joshua, Caleb, Gracie, Kimberly, Tabitha, and Jody; mother-in-law, Veva Boyd Scott of Meadows of Dan; two brothers-in-law, Leo Boyd and wife, Margaret and Thomas Scott, of Meadows of Dan; special friend, Jennifer Montgomery of Laurel Fork; and many great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service for Betty Boyd will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Skyline Pentecostal Holiness Church (located at 1515 Rock Church Road, Meadows of Dan) with Rev. Tommy Gosnell officiating. A burial will follow in the Boyd Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday morning. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart has been entrusted with the arrangements and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
