Gary William Kruse, age 67, of Stuart, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem.

He was born in Wisconsin on February 7, 1950 to the late Donald William Kruse and Dorothy Louise McCorrison Kruse.

He served in the United States Army.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Jessica Kruse of Stuart, Cory Kruse of Woolwine, and Matthew and Tammy Kruse of Stuart; eight grandchildren, Whitley, Owen and Evan Kruse, Ryan, Brandon, Kaitlyn and McKenzie Spencer and Wesley Kruse; and one brother, Shane Kruse of Stuart.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans’ Memorial Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends tonight (Wednesday) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, and at other times at the home of his son, Matthew Kruse, 94 Developmental Road, Stuart.

If desired, memorials may be made to the Patrick County Veterans’ Memorial Honor Guard, c/o Tom Inman, 426 Big A School Road, Stuart, Virginia 24171.
