Mary Joyce Johnson, 94, of Martinsville, died on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at her home.

She was born on June 19, 1922 in Spencer to the late Thomas G. Joyce and Ida Terry Joyce. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, R. Leon Johnson; sister, Louise J. Helms; and brothers, George Joyce and Harold Terry Joyce.

She was a member of Wilson Street Pentecostal Holiness Church since 1952 where she taught Sunday school for over 60 years. She was a graduate of Spencer-Penn High School.

Surviving are her brother, Billy G. Joyce of Bassett; a cousin, Ricky Terry of Stuart; several nieces and nephews; and godsons, Logan Jonus and Andy Jonus.

A funeral service was held Saturday at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel with Pastor Travis Cassell officiating. Entombment was at Roselawn Abbey.
