George Burton Pierson, 89, passed into his eternal home on September 2, 2016, at his home in Stuart.
He was born in Gassaway, W.Va. on February 28, 1927 and was a son of the late John and Erma Johnson Pierson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Kelsie Bonnett Pierson; and a sister, Ruth Ellen Smith.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Robert Reynolds of Stuart; two grandsons, Seth and Logan Reynolds of Stuart; one sister, Rosa Lee Blake of Frametown, W.Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, William J. “Bill” and Betty Pierson of Vienna, W.Va..; several nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Darlene Mills.
He served in the Navy during the end of World War II. He was a member of Hope Baptist Church in Frametown. A perfect day to Burton was to bike and hike the outdoors and enjoy God’s creation.
Funeral services were held Monday at Hope Baptist Church in Frametown with the Revs. Rich Demastus and Bobby Goldsburg officiating. Burial was in the Middle Run Baptist Church cemetery.
