Fire crews were summoned at 10:17 p.m. on Wednesday to a structure fire at the former Willard’s Garage, located at 29 Lee Bowling Drive in Patrick Springs.

Crews from Patrick Springs Volunteer Fire Department (Company 23), were on scene within one minute and said the blaze was fully involved, with flames venting through the roof.

Manpower and tankers from Patrick Springs, Patrick Henry Volunteer Fire Department (Company 14), Moorefield Store Volunteer Fire Department (Company 28), and Stuart Volunteer Fire Department (Company 26), along with Station 8 (Patrick County’s career crews) responded to the blaze.

Patrick County Sheriff’s deputies, the Virginia State Police and the Jeb Stuart Rescue Squad also responded to the scene.

Stuart Volunteer Fire Department brought their ladder truck and used it to continue to drown burning materials. In total, an estimated 35 volunteers were on scene for an about three hours working to extinguish the blaze.

Strong winds helped propel the fire, making it more difficult to contain.

The garage was a total loss, along with all vehicles, equipment, and tools located in and around the building.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the blaze is undetermined at this time.
