Where can you pretend to be a tractor trailer driver, jet pilot, ambulance driver, race car driver, firefighter and policeman, all in the same day?

Come out to these experiences and many more at Roanoke County’s free event, the ninth annual Touch-a-Truck, on July 29 at Roanoke County’s Green Hill Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This year’s event features new and interesting vehicles as well as a multitude of other possibilities for great new memories.

Among the new “wheels” there this year is the VA811 Display Truck that has a jumbo digital screen. Children and adults will enjoy the opportunity to watch some big vehicles in motion on the big digital screen. The trucks capabilities include satellite television, live streaming, as well as playing MP4, PowerPoint and DVDs. It also has a generator for an independent power source, built in sound system and Wi-Fi.

New to the event this year is race car driver Bryan Reedy, who will be there with the ComServe Wireless race car for guests to get an up close and personal look. There is certainly something for all ages to enjoy at Touch-a-Truck.

Popular vehicles back again include Pro-Line Trailers Monster Truck standing at 15 feet tall with wheels larger than a normal size man. Bucket trucks, motorcycles, tractors from 1942 and 1950 and a 1959 Mack Fire Truck are available for children to touch and experience.

Also, several race cars, military vehicles, Roanoke County’s SWAT vehicle and lots of vehicles from Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism will be participating in the fun. Also returning this year will be the Barrel Train Ride which all the children have come to love.

Favorite activities returning this year include Firemen’s Foam, petting zoo, food vendors and a magician, along with other special attractions. Be sure to stop by centerfield to get a picture of yourself as a jet pilot in a replica jet cockpit.

Do not forget the camera to capture all the fantastic memories.

Roanoke County’s Touch-a-Truck event is one of the largest of its kind in the Southeast boasting close to 200 vehicles and was awarded the 2014 “Top 20 Events in The Southeast” by the Southeast Tourism Society.

Come join Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism and sponsors WFXR/CW5 and ComServe Wireless for a day filled with adventures, new opportunities and memories that will last a lifetime. For more information please call (540) 387-6078, extension 0 or visit www.RoanokeCountyParks.com.
