William Basil Trent Jr., 76, of Spencer, died on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at his home.
He was born in Patrick County on April 2, 1940 and was a son of the late William Basil Trent Sr., and Helen Hylton Trent. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Charleen Elizabeth Trent; and his infant sister, Mollie Allen Trent.
He is survived by his daughter, Ann Harris of Spencer; his son, William Basil Trent III of Spencer; four grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Dare Mott and Lillie Sue Hoyle; and one brother George Robert Trent.
The funeral service was held Monday at Mayo Baptist Church with Pastors Ricky Bates and Curt Ashley officiating. Burial was in Mayo Baptist Church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mayo Baptist Church, 85 Penn Store Road, Spencer, Va., 24165 or Mountain Valley Hospice, 730 East Church Street, Suite 13, Martinsville, Va., 24112.
