Mr. Willie Raymond Willard, 85, of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on May 30, 1933 to the late A.J. Willard and Cora Lee Boyd Willard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Hunt Willard; and two brothers, John Abe Willard and James Hooker Willard. Mr. Willard served in the U.S. Army and was a charter member of the Fairystone Fire Department. He had retired from Bassett Furniture.

Surviving are a daughter, Deborah Hazen of Bedford, Ind.; two sons, Willie Tracy Willard of Stuart and Floyd J. Willard of Stuart; one granddaughter, Michelle Hazen-Scank and husband, A.J. of Terre Haute, Ind.; two sisters, Ruby Foley and Lucy Willard both of Stuart; one brother and sister-in-law, LeRoy and Betty Willard of Bassett; one sister-in-law, Maxine Willard of Newport, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor David Gaylor, Jr. officiating. Burial was in Patrick Memorial Gardens with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the Fairystone Volunteer Fire Department, 6687 Fairystone Park Highway, Stuart, Va. 24171 or to the Smith River Rescue Squad, P.O.
